Project Urban provides a full range of liquor licensing services. With the recent passing of the “Tackling Alcohol-Fuelled Violence Legislation Amendment Bill 2015” a number of changes will come into effect. If you have a licenced venue, you need to know about the changes and how they will affect you:
- Reduced trading hours OUTSIDE Safe Night Precincts. Extended trading hours for the sale of liquor will be reduced from 5am to 2am (effective from 1 July 2016)
- Reduced trading hours WITHIN Safe Night Precincts. Extended trading hours reduced from 5am to 3am (effective from 1 July 2016)
- a 1am lockout will apply to all licensed premises in Safe Night Precincts. This means patrons cannot enter a licensed venue between 1am and 3am (effective from 1 February 2017)
Some exemptions to the above will apply, primarily to casinos, licensed venues in airports and industrial canteens.
Other changes, such as the supply of rapid intoxication drinks after midnight and mandatory ID scanners are still the subject of industry consultation.
