Project Urban is a specialist property development consultancy and we have added Marine Structure Approvals to our service offering. Andrew Stevens, Managing Director, says the company is well-positioned to offer approval services for marinas, waterfront developments and jetty and pontoons.
“We have decades of experience dealing with development applications of all kinds, and we’re pleased to add marine structures to the list,” said Mr Stevens.
Marine structures include residential pontoons, industrial cargo jetties, revetment walls, marinas and Council-owned boat ramps and other public use facilities. These structures may be located in man-made or natural waterways.
“Our clients are typically commercial or industrial entities, residential property owners and local or state government departments. Marine structure approval is a specialist field, that can be incredibly complicated and includes determining impacts on navigation channels, the location of fish habitats, mangroves and marine park boundaries,” he said.
“The applications often require a referral to or consent from State agencies including Fisheries, Natural Resources, Maritime Safety and Marine Parks to name a few,” he said.
“Our marine structures approval service benefits our clients who own properties adjacent to waterways, allowing us to offer them an integrated, whole-of-project service for property development clients,” Mr Stevens said.
Properties in coastal locations or with river frontage can add significant amenity and value with the addition of a pontoon, jetty or other marine structure.
The division is supported by Trish Belt who has over 16 years’ experience providing advice and preparing applications or a range of marine structures. She has secured hundreds of approvals for waterfront projects, coordinating between government departments, property owners, jetty /pontoon manufacturers and engineers.
“Trish has valuable contacts with assessment bodies and remains up-to-date with legislative changes. In fact, on a number of occasions, Trish has been invited by government agencies to provide insights and feedback on proposed legislative changes. She also has an extensive network of contacts at all levels of marine jurisdiction throughout Australia,” he said.
