Sunshine Coast Mayor, Mark Jamieson recently unveiled the proposed Sunshine Coast City Hall project. In his introduction he referred to the beauty of the Sunshine Coast and the deep connection between the hinterland mountain ranges and coastal plains as the inspiration behind the design.
To be located in the new Maroochydore City Centre, it will be as Mayor Jamieson says, “a landmark building, one which invokes pride in our community, our city and represents our Region’s natural assets.”
Project Urban Project Management congratulates the Sunshine Coast Council (SCC) on its vision to develop an exemplar commercial development within the Maroochydore City Centre. In addition we also recognise SCC’s commitment to engage multiple locally based consultancy firms in the design and development of this important asset.
As Project Managers of the new Sunshine Coast City Hall, the recent announcement marked an important milestone in the development journey with Council over the past 18 months. The next established and critical milestones will see the DA lodged with EDQ in late June, then designs further developed with a contract due to be signed in mid-December 2019 with construction due to commence in May 2020. When construction is completed and the building handed over in mid-2022, this will mark a near 5-year journey for Council in the development of their new City Hall.
Paul Blair, Managing Director of Project Urban Project Management (PUPM) said “It is expected that SCCH will set a new benchmark for commercial development on the Sunshine Coast. It is without doubt, reflective of our region’s growth and further evidence of Council’s continuing support of local businesses and core industries that underpin our economic prosperity,” he said.
