Cosmopolitan on the Esplanade at Cotton Tree, comprises 143 apartments across two residential towers and commercial floor space that activates both frontages.
Project Urban was pleased to lodge and obtain the town planning and operational works approvals, while our landscape division was engaged to design the landscaping and streetscape finishes for this significant development.
One of the challenges with this project was activating the Esplanade road frontage while addressing minimum floor level requirements.
The development was required to be elevated above the footpath to address minimum floor level requirements. This change of level, that included all steps, ramps, retaining walls and handrails, had to be accommodated within the site boundaries so that Council did not inherit the maintenance obligations for this infrastructure. The effect of this is that the plaza area and shopfronts have to be setback behind all steps and ramps.
Project Urban was intimately involved with these interface issues to deliver an enhanced street frontage that includes landscaping and hard finishes that provide an attractive setting for the development.
