Ordinarily liquor licences for cafes and restaurants only allow for the consumption of alcohol on the premises with the sale of food.
However, given the COVID-19 restrictions and requirements for cafes and restaurants to close their seated dining areas, the QLD and NSW Liquor & Gaming regulators have some very welcome news.
Cafes and restaurants in these States are now allowed to sell TAKE-AWAY alcohol with the sale of takeaway food.
And the news gets better… both NSW and QLD Liquor Licensing offices have advised that most annual licensing fees payable for the 2020/2021 year will be waived for existing licensed premises. For Queensland venues this represents a saving of $710.20 whilst NSW saves around $442. In addition, NSW Liquor Licensing has waived application fees for new licence applications.
