The State Government has issued an information request to the Sunshine Coast Council which identifies significant concerns with the drafting of the new Planning Scheme.
The information request requires Council to make specific changes to the proposed planning scheme to ensure compliance with the State Planning Policy and Regional Plan, such as:
- increasing the diversity of housing options supported in the low density residential zone including secondary dwellings, row or terrace housing, townhouses, triplexes or quadruplexes and low-rise multiple dwellings (up to three storeys);
- making dual occupancies and low scale multi-unit residential development accepted development in the low density residential zone;
- reducing the level of assessment for small scale multiple dwellings in the low density residential zone and supporting subdivisions in the zone down to 300m².
