The Sunshine Coast Council is proceeding with a TLPI which seeks to provide incentives for hotel developments. This policy is in response to a recognised shortfall of 2,450 hotel rooms for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The draft TLPI applies additional height incentives and parking reductions for hotel developments on certain sites. Council’s Economic Development Branch should be commended for their leadership in promoting policy change that supports the tourism industry on the Coast. Whilst the devil will be in the detail, it is a good start.
I encourage everyone to get behind this initiative and lodge an online submission to support Economic Development’s proposal to ensure that the negativity of noisy NIMBY’s is balanced with positive, well considered influence.
Public notification of the draft TLPI is open until 8 October 2024. Please contact us for assistance in the preparation of a submission to Council.
